This is a MUST for all bath lovers!! These beautiful Double live edge solid Wood Live Edge decorative bath caddies trays is the perfect partner to a long bubbly soak. This caddy is made from Pippy Oak and is for the rustic style seekers. This beautiful wood has “cats paw”/ honey combing in it which makes it full of character and charm. These are statement pieces and are wider than our standard bath caddies and have live edges on both the front & back edge.
Each bath caddy is unique as they are made to order from a different handpicked piece of wood, so all markings/ grain will be different
MEASUREMENTS:
Length: your choice
Depth: 20-25cmd we can cut them wider on request- please contact us with your measurements for a quote.
Thickness: 2-2.5cms
These are cut to order so any size can be done. Any lengths over 95cms, please contact us for a quote. All lengths can be catered for as all the caddies are made to order. Any over 1m incurs additional shipping fee.
We recommend that you measure your bath (exterior edge to exterior edge) to check the width before ordering. Please measure from the interior side to interior side as well as exterior to exterior. This is so that you can let us know if the rim around the bath is wider than 1inch thick. The reason for this is we put the wine glass holder a close to the end of the bath caddy as possible to give you more room for your legs! If the rim around your bath is wide then this can stop the wine glass from sitting properly. In this case, we will place the wine glass holder closer to the centre. Just add a note to your order or alternatively send a message if you have any other specifics that you might want.
OVERHANG/ SIZE:
You may want to consider the below factors when deciding what size:
1. Freestanding vs against a wall- if freestanding you may want more of an overhang
2. Thickness of the rim- if the rim is narrow, again you may want more of an overhang
3. Room around the bath- you don’t want the caddy to become an obstacle!
We don’t add stoppers to the underside of the caddy as we have found that it might not sit properly depending on how the sides slope down. We can send 2 small wooden blocks unattached and then you can attach them once the caddy is in place. Something similar to gorilla glue or any outdoor wood glue will suffice. Please add a note with your order if you would like this included. Alternatively, you can attach “chopping board feet” which can either be screwed or stuck to the underside of the caddy which add a bit of friction. These can be bought quite cheaply from Amazon or EBay if you google them.
LIVE EDGE:
The Live Edge will depend on the individual piece of wood. These have a live front edge & straight cut on the back edge. The caddy will follow the natural line of the timber, sometimes this can be quite straight and sometimes it can be "waney". It just depends on individual piece of timber. The front & back edge will be live edge (please see our FAQ's for a definition)
Please note that as all the bath caddies are custom made to order from individual pieces of wood and as such, no two will be the same. This uniqueness means we cannot guarantee shape, tone, character or how “waney” or gnarly the edge is as we are restricted by the timber available at the time of making you order. We use the photos to show the variety of edges as best we can, but this does not mean you will get one exactly like any of the photos.
If you have a specific request, please contact us prior to order to see if we can accommodate this
Please note that the nature of using wood/timber is that it may come with splits, knots etc. This is part of the character of the piece. The honey combing can be slightly raised. Pippy oak is a rough, rustic, gnarly, characterful wood. These are unique pieces which are perfect for creating that authentic rustic style/ decor. The live edge can become slightly raised during transit due to the friction between the packaging & the board , but this can be sorted by a light, quick brush of sand pape
These may come with historic woodworm/woodboring holes,. All the oaks have also been treated with EVERBUILD Triple action wood treatment for wood boring insects. This protects the wood against re-infestation but also means that it breaks the life cycle, as, if there is any "activity" (new holes, frass etc), any insects that may appear will have had to burrow through the treated wood which will make the sterile so will die prior to multiplying & completing their life cycle so will not travel far or be able to infest other wood. So if you do see this, please do not panic but if you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. However, as with any exposed timber, we recommend a retreat every year with an oil/wax treatment for protection against moisture & a treatment for protection against wood boring insects
We also create them in other variations of wood, please see our bath caddy section of our shop.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss anything further, please do not hesitate to contact us prior to ordering
Please note that these are all bespoke custom made items so are not eligible for refunds or returns, for more information, please check our returns policy and our FAQ section. In the unlikely event you have any problems with your bath caddy, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will try to rectify the situation.
TREATMENT:
This is a decorative piece of wood, splashes/drips & steam are expected but it should not get excessively wet. If you have a shower bath or use the shower head then we advise removing the bath caddy when this is in use. Excess water will effect the quality of this item & may lead to the treatment being washed off. This includes leaving any damp/ wet sponges/ flannels on the caddy, they may lead to the oil leaching off & into the bath.
Your piece has been treated with tung oil* to leave a matte natural invisible finish which ensure your piece is protected from penetrating water/ moisture damage. Please allow up to 2 weeks for the treatment to fully cure so care should be taken during this time to wipe any splash marks to stop them from marking. However, they are similar to coffee tables, and water/ liquid can leave marks if left to dry for any length of time. We recommend wiping off any liquid spills/drips immediately. If a water mark does occur, these can be resolved by sanding the area and retreating with tung oil.
Here are a few tips to keep it looking special:
1. Do not leave water to dry on it, treat it like you would a coffee table, even when treated, water can mark. The treatment protects it against penetrating water damage but this doesn’t mean that it is waterproof, water could mark. This includes leaving any damp/ wet sponges/ flannels on the caddy, they may lead to the oil leaching off & into the bath. The caddy shouldn't sit in pooled water, particularly on the underside as this can lead to the treatment running off. It should not be saturated or soaked, so for example not left too close to the running tap or if using s shower attachment, please remove the caddy from the bath.
2. Do not use chemicals on the piece. Any chemicals may affect the treatment used. We don’t just mean the obvious, cleaning products, even soap, shampoo, toothpaste, body wash etc can react with the treatment effectively striping it so ensure any splashes are wiped up immediately.
3. You will need to retreat your piece from time to time, depending on use & environment. Give it a light sand down (until any marks disappear) then retreat with your oil of choice
Any marks can be removed with a light sand & retreatment.
The oil can take up to 30 days to fully cure & care should be taken during this time.
* tung oil is extracted from nuts & may cause an allergic reaction
Ultimately, this is a piece of natural wood & will require care & maintenance, the same as a wooden kitchen bench or coffee table would.

Very happy with all the work Lisa did on the bespoke bath caddy. Excellent quality and workmanship. Very quick to respond to messages and quick delivery, too. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her!
So pleased with the elm bath caddy! Lisa was very patient and helpful throughout the ordering process, answering my endless questions and accommodating the custom design. Manufacture and delivery were speedy. Many thanks
I love my bath caddy. I wasn’t sure what colour to go for and size so I messaged Lisa and she gave me advice. I even sent her a photo as I wanted to wood to be similar to that on the floor. She was super helpful and my caddy arrived on time and well wrapped. I would definitely order from her again. Thank you xx
Great communication and easily personalised my tray, exactly the way I wanted it. Very fast delivery. Lovely product! Thank you!
My daughter loved the tray as it was their 5th wedding anniversary (wood).
I want something similar to one of your products, can you alter it for me?
Short answer- yes! Any one of our products can be adapted to meet your needs, failing that we can create something complete unique to you. Please don't be afraid to ask, as a lot of our products have grown from a client's idea! Just email us at giftswithacherryontop@gmail.com
Can you add personalised text and/ or messages?
Yes, please chose the personalised option on the drop down menu and please ensure that you message us with the exact text and spelling. Please double check the spelling and grammar as we will copy and paste your wording. Please note the following grammatical rules for use of apostrophes when making a surname plural taken from The Grammarist.com: "Making a last name plural should never involve an apostrophe. The members of the Johnson and Smith families, for instance, are the Johnsons and the Smiths, not the Johnson’s and the Smith’s. Last names ending in s are no different. Most nouns ending in s are pluralized by adding es. This applies to last names as well. The members of the Edwards and Doss families are the Edwardses and the Dosses, not the Edwards’s and the Doss’s."
Do you have any more examples/ photos of your products?
We do, head on over to our Instagram page and you will see a gallery of photos which include client's photos of their pieces as well as more of all our pieces.
Aftercare for wood items
Not too much aftercare is required. All our products are treated prior to despatch but as with any natural product, aftercare is essential to maintain your piece. We would advise re-treating your item as below:
Bath Caddy: Treated with Tung Oil. Retreat every 6-12 months. We would advise not using any bathroom or surface cleaners on the product. The Tung oil is highly alcohol, food and water stain resistant so anything spilt should come off with a damp cloth. If there are any water marks or stains, these usually can be removed with a light sand and then retreatment of the tung oil.
Platters: Treated with Mineral oil. Retreat every 3-6 months (can be treated with tung oil too)
Prior to despatch, we treat the oaks for any woodboring insect infestation. If you do see any activity on your board, please do not panic, these will die and cause no further problems as they will eat the treated wood. We recommend retreating the wood as you would any exposed timber. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
